Chef Suvir Saran

Suvir Saran is an internationally celebrated chef, author, columnist and culinary thinker whose work sits at the vibrant intersection of food, memory, culture and belonging. His acclaimed New York restaurant Devi became the first Indian restaurant in North America to earn a Michelin star, helping reshape the global conversation around Indian cuisine.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Suvir has cooked, taught and spoken across the world. He has served on the faculty of New York University and collaborated extensively with the Culinary Institute of America and the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. He is the author of three influential cookbooks, the photographic meditation Instamatic, and the memoir Tell My Mother I Like Boys.

A widely read columnist, Suvir writes with candour, compassion and wit about food, identity, memory and the shared humanity that binds us. As Culinary Director of Avas Wellness, he is now developing a distinctive philosophy of “stealth health”—food that places flavour and pleasure first while allowing nourishment to work quietly and intelligently beneath every bite.
